Plan Ahead

When a loved one passes away with no burial plan in place, the family is left with many decisions to make during an already emotional time. If these decisions have already been made, the family can simply focus on comforting each other during a difficult loss. Pre-planning is the most caring final gift a person can give their loved ones.

Why should I pre-plan?

Not only does pre-planning relieve the family of many tough decisions during a time of loss, it also provides significant financial benefits. Funeral costs can increase by the thousands over the course of a decade. In 2001, the average funeral cost $3,192, but by 2016 that cost rose to $8,513. When a person plans their burial ahead of time, they pay what the burial would cost at the time of planning, rather than what it will cost at the time of death. Pre-planning also helps families avoid emotionally overspending after a loss.

What happens during a pre-planning meeting?

Each pre-planning meeting covers three main points:

  1. Type of burial

At each of our cemeteries we offer four types of burials: Mausoleums, family estates, cremation burials and traditional ground burials. If you aren’t sure which type you would prefer, our team can help you determine the best option for you.

  2. Requirements of the cemetery

We will discuss with you everything you would need to facilitate each type of burial option. For example, if a person chooses a traditional burial, they will also need to purchase a burial vault. You will learn about the requirements of each burial type during our pre-planning meeting.

  3. Memorialization

The final thing we will cover is memorialization. This means we will discuss headstones, engravings and other monument customizations. We design all monuments in-house, so you will be able to see what your monument will look like before your appointment is over.

The entire pre-planning process can be completed in one meeting. Our experienced team understands this process can be emotional, so we make it as simple as possible. We are here to help you navigate the practical side of planning ahead.
